Pear Cider on Tap
I am Irish & I do love a good jig. I recommend going on a night when they have live music, although their jukebox selection has a lot of choices. Nice place-- you can blend or stand out your choice. I have never tasted the food, but, I've sniffed it as it was walking by to another table & I have to say it did smell good --- I guess that I will to make it a point to try it another night! My favorite thing about this place is that they have Pear Cider on Tap --- go Rosie! Anyway, good place to start off before any other shenanigans go on!

NO LOYALTY!
I have faithfully gone to this restaurant for the past 8 years. They have messed up orders, forgot things & sometimes the food was just bad. On the other hand, they have a veggie burger & sometimes the food is, not bad. Here is the straw that broke the camels back. There was those stupid little instant win things that come on cups, and we won a shake. So, we went to redeem it & they informed be (due to just wear & tear) that there was a little bit scratched off the other part, so it would be invalid. Now, we weren't trying to pull a fast one - get away with anything, just collect on a shake, that's it. But, instead, of any compromise or you know for perhaps being a loyal customer -- give an inch & redeem the instant win, they stood strong. They claimed they would not be able to claim it -- you know-- so what? After all the orders & food you've gotten wrong over the years --- hey how about some loyalty - some reward, but no, they lost a customer - due to their inability to see the bigger picture, we won, fair and square -- no bending.. nothing but a number, that's when I realized corporate sucks! I will now NO LONGER GO THERE!

It's Magic
What can you do if your puppy decides to chew up your shoes? Walk into Leather Magic & cry. So, yes, they are limited on staff, I saw a woman working in the back & as I walked in a man greeted me at the counter. He was polite, helpful & told me he would do his best. The shoes I brought in were valued at 200 dollars, for the repairs, he was charging me 30, he said it would be a few days, it was a few days & it was MAGIC. Great customer service, good work & great price. I would, if I had more shoes that needed repair go back & trust they would do a great job!

Even for a pescitarian!
First of all --- the people are great who work here! They may not know your name (right off the bat), but they will remember you. If you are into burgers – this is the place for you! Even if you are not, I am a pescitarian & I still find something to eat – THE SPINACH PIE PLATE!!!! Oh, it’s just oh so good! They have tables inside & out and it’s nice just to sit & eat. This is also a favorite hang-outs of SD Police, so, you will feel really safe! There are really a lot of great choices on the menu & they do offer up specials on a whiteboard as you walk in the joint & make no mistake, it is a good –ol joint!

VEG is IN!
This place --- is a heaven for Vegetarians. Of course, do I wish I could get a meal deal like you do at your favorite fast food place, yes. Maybe we could suggest they add an easy on the pocket book special once a week. Aside from it being a little more than your fast food compares, this place is fantastic. I ordered a veggie meatball sandwich & let me tell you, it was WONDERFUL. Staff is friendly. You can dine-in, they have 5-6 tables inside & a few outside, or you can take it to go & I did, I took it to volleyball to fuel up after a game, nothing like diving into a meatball sandwich knowing it is all vegetarian! Good for the heart & soul! This place should be on your list as a once a week kind of spot!

A diamond in the rough!
This Deli is a diamond in the rough! The staff is friendly & courteous. It is a small place, 6 “inside” tables & 3 outdoor/street tables, but, it seems roomier than that. As you walk up, you can smell the delicious food cooking! If you are unfamiliar with any of the items the staff will be more than happy to give you a description that wet’s your appetite & makes you even hungrier than when you arrived. My personal favorite is the falafel wrap! A great place to sit with a friend & chat over lunch – or if you are in a hurry take it to go! If you are not in the mood for a falafel wrap – go with the spinach pie – yum!

Wrote a review of La Playa Taco Shop
My GO-TO spot for Mexican food
A simple review cannot explain the wondrous glory that is La Playa Taco Shop, but I am going to give it a shot regardless. There are several factors that determine an enjoyable experience, and La Playa delivers in all of these departments. The first is the quality of the food. This taco shop uses the only the freshest ingredients coupled with decades of taco shop expertise. Everything from their tortillas to their fish is exceptional - not to mention their renowned carne asada. Order anything you want, and you won't be disappointed. (Note: The portions are not copious like many taco shops you will find in San Diego, so if you have a large appetite, you may consider ordering more than one item) Also, their salsa is addicting. The red sauce has a great flavor and the green sauce packs a punch. Next is the service. This place has been run by the same family for over twenty years, and when you are in their abode, that is exactly what you are - family. The lovely lady behind the register addresses the patrons as mijo/a, or "my son/daughter." These people are proud to serve you and they do it well. On a busy day, you may have to wait a bit for your food but it is undoubtedly worth it. If you're on a tight schedule, I recommend calling your order in before hand. Last is convenience. Like all places in Mission/Pacific Beach, the parking is limited. There is a small parking lot and a few rarely occurring spots on the street. If you live in the area, a journey on foot would be preferable. Otherwise, you're going to have to tough it out.The prices here are fairly reasonable. It is a tad more expensive than your average taco shop, but you pay a small premium for a superior product. All in all, this place is unbeatable. I live right next to La Playa so I eat here more often than I should. When friends and family come to visit, all they want to do is walk across the street, rather than branch out to the plethora of restaurants in the area. If you haven't tried this place, you MUST!

Wrote a review of Taste of Thai
Great Thai food
I love eating Thai food and have eaten at a number of Thai establishments in San Diego. I think Taste of Thai is by far one of the better tasting Thai restaurants. In terms of customer service, I think most people would agree that the Thai people are a very friendly lot and I haven't been to a Thai restaurant where the service hasn't been anything less than great. The staff at Taste of Thai are very service-oriented. The dining room is nicely laid out with your typical Thai-theme decor. But the food here is consistently good; I've had half of the things on the menu and everything is fantastic from your typical tom yum, pad thai, and green curry to their delicous desserts. So if you are in Hillcrest or the other Taste of Thai location off Del Mar, by all means, give them a try.

Great setting, food and beers
Stone Brewing Co is a great place to go to for delicous food and beers. I've been to this place a number of times when I'm in the area and nothing I have ordered has ever disappoint and this includes their own beers. Having said that, nothing on the menu is particular standout. I always order their ceviche which is delicous. If anything, go to this place for it's nice setting both outdoors and indoors. Expect to wait for a table sometimes for more than 30 minutes but if that is the case, head to the bar and order yourself a drink while you are waiting. All in all, great restaurant but it is a bit out of the way from San Diego.

Wrote a review of Trader Joes
Love Trader Joe's
I went to this location for years, and it has everything that other Trader Joe's have to offer. However, I've been going to the Scripps Location since it opened because it's a really large store and the parking is ample. The Carmel Mountain location is nice because the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It think Trader Joe's must treat their employees well because they always seem really happy, like they're enjoying themselves while they work. I don't encounter employees like this at Henry's or Jimbo's--two other stores that I frequent. The negative about this location is the parking is a nightmare during certain hours. The shopping center is really popular and has quite a few businesses. If you go here during lunch hours, you'll spend five minutes trying to park, unless you're lucky! The other negative is that it's relatively small compared to the newer locations. I love that Trader Joe's carries so many natural foods and organic foods. I have a list of "bargains" that I always seek out from trader joes--eggs, goat cheese, goat milk yogurt, cereal, coffee--and a number of other things. They also carry great items in their beauty department--for a great price--I like their hand soaps and their jojoba oil. I also buy my dog food here--a great natural variety--and dog treats. I have been so accustomed to shopping at trader Joes that I wouldn't know what to do without one nearby!

Delicious Pulled Pork and beer
I've had to come here a couple of times for meetings and overall, this place is pretty tasty. My favorite is probably the pulled pork sandwich which is made with their bbq sauce called Marzan (sp?). It's fantastic and hefty and it comes on a Challah bun which is great. The sandwich is supposed to come with their housemade chips but I always substitute it with their garlic fries and this is really good. Their own brewed beers are also tasty. The atomosphere is decent and the service staff is always helpful and prompt. It's definitely worthwhile to go there if you are looking for a meeting place.

Pretty bad food
I had to go to this restaurant for a function last week and had the opportunity to probably sample over ten dishes since there were so many of us at the table. Overall, the food here is pretty bad. The Horfun noodle dish is the worst I've ever had: clumpy, underseasoned, extremely sparse on toppings. Their other stir fried noodle dish that came out which had seafood and greens in it looked like a plate of creamy vomit. It didn't look good so I didn't even bother to try it, but there was a lot of that left on the plate so I wasn't the only one at the table who felt the same way. The place was packed for a Friday night and the service was decent but nothing spectacular. I think if you can't make good food overall, then it doesn't matter about the other aspects of a restaurant that makes customers want to come back.

Basic Plates Are a Great Value
My family and I always come back to this familiar spot. The servers are witty and quick, the food is a good value, and the atmosphere is friendly. The kobe beef ribs are excellent, so are their Udon soups, and their sushi specials never disappoint. Their bento boxes are the best value, you choose one main course and your side dishes. I suggest teriyaki chicken, pot stickers, california roll, etc. Their jalapeno roll is flavorful, not too spicy, and wash it down with a tall Sapporo. Beware: Dinner time is busy, and seating is limited.
